Course Sequences and Core Areas

Sequences:

For fulfilling the divisional requirements in Arts and Sciences, almost any two philosophy courses numbered 107-297 constitute an approved sequence. There is just one exception: 171-172 will not fulfill the sequence requirement. Consult the Liberal Arts Core Guidebook for further information.

Core Areas :

For fulfilling the requirements for majors, each course numbered 300 - 599 fulfills the requirement in one or more of the four core areas. The areas are:

  1. Metaphysics and Epistemology
  2. Value Theory
  3. History of Philosophy
  4. Logic, Language and Philosophy of Science

The roman numerals after the course title indicate the core area(s) for each course. Consult the Undergraduate Catalog or Click Here for more details about major requirements.
